About Course

Description

Welcome to Grade 10 Chemistry at Dar Jana International School.

This free online course is designed to support your classroom learning with lesson resources, study guides, worksheets, practice questions, videos, laboratory activities, review materials, and exam preparation.

During this course, we will explore six major areas of chemistry:

  • Thermochemistry — energy changes in chemical and physical processes, heat transfer, and calorimetry.
  • Quantum Theory and Electronic Structure — electron energy levels, atomic orbitals, and electron configuration.
  • Periodic Relationships — periodic trends and how atomic structure influences chemical behavior.
  • Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure — ionic and covalent bonding, compound formation, structure, and stability.
  • Molecular Geometry and Bonding Theories — three-dimensional molecular shapes and bonding models.
  • Intermolecular Forces, Liquids, and Solids — particle attractions and how they influence boiling point, melting point, states of matter, and physical properties.

Throughout the course, you will develop scientific thinking, problem-solving, data analysis, laboratory skills, research, and scientific communication. You will also practice calculations using appropriate units, precision, and significant figures.

The course combines teacher explanations, demonstrations, worked examples, individual practice, collaboration, laboratory investigations, research, reading, and flipped-learning activities.

Main Course Resource: Chemistry, McGraw Hill, AP 14th Edition, supported by laboratory manuals, virtual laboratory resources, worksheets, educational videos, online resources, and Google Classroom materials.

Important: This course is provided free of charge for my Grade 10 students as an additional learning, practice, and revision resource.
